Frequently Asked Questions

I want to buy (desired car here). How much will it cost to import and purchase it?
Here at JDM Legends, the most common question asked is how much a desired import and sale may be. This is not a quick answer, simple answer, or unfortunately, even a ball park answer. So many factors from condition of car, miles on the engine, weight of the vehicle, and even tread on the tire can effect the end dollar amount. Additionally, the JPY (yen) to USD (dollar) conversion is moving every single day and can affect the outcome of what you may end up paying. There best way to get an answer to your question and start your own importation is to fill out our intake form here.

Does JDM Legends offer financing or take payments?
As a focused specialty shop, we don't offer any kind of financing or payment plans at this time. Usually, customers will secure financing through their own means like a credit card or loan from the bank. However, we are making big strides this year and growing fast. We will likely have some sort of in-house financing you can apply for in the coming future. Stay tuned for more details.

Can you give me advice on by restoration or build?
We love our fans and our community dearly, and we sincerely wish for their continued success in helping to bring these legends back to life with us. Due to the focused nature of our restorations and the attention to detail of our work, we cannot facilitate the time necessary to offer personal advice at this time. However, we would love to meet you in person at the next meet up and chat about your vehicle. Also, we will have blog updates and YouTube videos explaining some tips and tricks that can help you along the way. Good luck out there!

What kind of cars do you restore?
JDM Legends specializes in Japanese classic vehicles from the 1960s-1970s. We also work on 1980s-2000s era Japanese cars. Often, we get asked to restore cars from other vintages and countries. We love a classic 1969 Ford Turino as much as the next enthusiast, but as far as working on them, you are in better hands if we pass you off to a more specialized shop that can meet your needs.

I am interested in JDM Legends restoring or doing a build for my classic Japanese car. Can you give me a quote on how much it will cost?
Restorations cost rarely stay in one place. We have to remember that these cars were only available in one small country at one small moment in time. This can make prices of available parts fluctuate. Sometimes, custom fabrication is needed. Also the conversion rate of Japanese and American currency can vary. Much like any other restoration, unforeseen problems can arise as well. All these variables can factor in and leave the quote process confusing, which is why many shops such as our own, cant offer a cemented quote. The best place to start is to begin with our intake form here. This is the first step to getting you on the road in the car of your dreams.

What is JDM Legends hourly labor rate?
Currently, JDM Legends hourly labor rate is $95 an hour. This is subject to change in the future. This also does not include sublet labor from outside contractors such as a powder coater for, example. Those rates may vary.

Are you hiring or are there any open job positions?
This is a VERY common question. Who wouldn't want to work around these cars every day? It is a joy and a pleasure we take seriously. At this time, we are not hiring for any positions. We are growing, however, and may need some help in the future. Stay tuned and we will post opportunities as they become available.

Can you ship an item or car to me internationally?
Yes! For items like shirts, stickers, and decals, international shipping is already calculated for you at check out. For heavier goods like parts or wheels, an additional shipping charge for getting to your country will apply. For cars that are sold or restored for you internationally delivery is an option on a case by case basis. Fill out our intake form and leave some extra comments and we can start from there.
