Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Automotive Technician with a passion for Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) performance vehicles, specifically those 25 years and older. The ideal candidate will possess advanced knowledge of classic JDM models, such as Nissan Skyline, Toyota Supra, Honda NSX, Mazda RX-7, Mitsubishi EVO and Subaru WRX and be proficient in the service, repair, and restoration of these high-performance vehicles.
In addition to mechanical expertise, the candidate should have strong welding skills (TIG and MIG) to perform light repairs and assist with custom product prototyping. You will be a key part of a dynamic team, helping to maintain, restore, and enhance some of the most iconic vehicles in automotive history.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on JDM vehicles, specializing in performance tuning and restoration of models 25 years and older.
- Conduct engine rebuilds, transmission repairs, suspension upgrades, and brake system overhauls, with a focus on high-performance optimization.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, including wiring, sensors, fuel injection systems, ignition systems, ECU issues, battery-related problems and lighting.
- Utilize TIG and MIG welding techniques to repair exhausts, intakes, and other components, as well as assist in the creation of custom parts and prototypes.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, fuel injection systems, turbochargers, and other specialized components found in JDM vehicles.
- Provide insight and recommendations to clients for performance upgrades and vehicle preservation.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, adhering to all safety regulations and shop protocols.
- Keep up-to-date with the latest trends, tools, and techniques in JDM performance modifications and restoration.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience as an automotive technician, with a strong focus on JDM performance vehicles.
- Advanced knowledge of JDM models such as Nissan, Toyota, Honda, Mazda, Mitsubishi and Subaru from the 1990s and earlier.
- Proficiency in TIG and MIG welding for light repairs, fabrications, and prototyping.
- Experience in engine diagnostics, repair, and rebuilds, especially with turbocharged and high-performance engines.
- Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and repair guides specific to JDM vehicles.
- ASE certification or equivalent is preferred but not required.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with aftermarket tuning, custom exhaust systems, and suspension setups.
- Familiarity with modern diagnostic tools and software used for performance vehicles.
- Ability to fabricate custom parts or modify existing components for enhanced performance.
